This pattern requires green, white and black 8 ply wool and a 4 mm crochet hook. It is written in American crochet notation. The finished spaceship is 17 cm long.

Round 1: 6sc in a magic ring (6 stitches)

Round 2: increase in every stitch (12 stitches)

Round 3: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch – repeat (18 stitches)

Round 4: sc in the first two stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (24 stitches)

Round 5: sc in the first three stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (30 stitches)

Rounds 6 – 8: sc in each stitch (30 stitches)

Round 9: sc in the first three stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (24 stitches)

Round 10: sc in the first two stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (18 stitches)

Insert some fairly stiff wire (I used a bit of coathanger) and bend it into the desired shape. Stuff the top part of the legs.

For the fins, in each engine attach the green wool to round 12, chain 3, two dc along the chain (the first chain is a turning chain so doesn’t count), dc in the engine, slip stitch, fasten off, weave in ends.

 

Window

With black wool

Row 1: chain 6

Row 2: sc along the chain (with one turning chain) (5 stitches)

Row 3: sc in each stitch (5 stitches)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

 

Assembly

Sew on the legs and engines. Sew on the window and embroider with green wool to divide it into two. With white wool embroider the number 1 or two on the top of the middle segment and embroider ‘starbug’ on each side of the rear segment.
