Some friends bought a Harry Potter advent calendar for work. Each day in December they would open a door and find a new Harry Potter figurine. They wanted to continue enjoying it in the new year so I suggested that I make new figures to go behind the doors. So I kinda signed myself up to design 24 Harry Potter figurines :/ We’ll see how we go.
This patterns uses a 2mm hook and brown, pink, grey and black 4 ply wool. It is written in American crochet notation. Scabbers is 4 cm tall.
Head
With 4 ply pink wool
Round 1: 4 sc in a magic ring (4 stitches)
With 4 ply brown wool
Round 2: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch – repeat (6 stitches)
Round 3: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch – repeat (9 stitches)
Round 4: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch – repeat (13 stitches)
Round 5: sc in each stitch (13 stitch)
Round 6: sc and then decrease around (7 stitches)
Stuff
Round 7: decrease until the hole closes
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Body
With brown 4 ply wool
Round 1: 6sc in a magic ring (6 stitches)
Round 2: increase in every stitch (12 stitches)
Round 3: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch – repeat (18 stitches)
Rounds 4 – 8: sc in each stitch (18 stitches) (5 rounds)
Round 9: sc in the first stitch, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (12 stitches)
Stuff
Round 10: decrease until the hole closes.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Now sew the head onto the body.
Ears (make two)
With pink 4 ply wool
Join the wool at an appropriate spot
Ch 1 and dc in that stitch, then dc and sc in the next stitch, fasten off and weave in the ends.
Tail
Attach pink 4 ply wool at an appropriate point and chain 8, turn then sc 7 back along the chain to the body. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Arms (make two)
With pink 4 ply wool
Round 1: 4 sc in a magic ring (4 stitches)
With brown 4 ply wool
Rounds 2 – 3: sc around (4 stitches)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Feet (make two)
With pink 4 ply wool
Round 1: 4 sc in a magic ring (4 stitches)
With brown 4 ply wool
Round 2: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch – repeat (6 stitches)
Round 3: sc in each stitch (6 stitches)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Assembly
Sew on the arms and legs. Embroider black eyes and grey whiskers.
