This pattern uses 8ply wool and a 4mm hook and is written in American crochet notation. The finished broccoli is 12 cm tall.

Stem

With light green wool

Round 1: 6sc in a magic ring (6 stitches)

Round 2: increase in every stitch (12 stitches)

Round 3: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch – repeat (18 stitches)

Round 4: sc in the first two stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (24 stitches)

Round 5: backloops only – sc in each stitch (24 stitches)

Rounds 6 – 15: sc in each stitch (24 stitches)

First floret

Round 16: chain 6, slip stitch in the stitch four stitches back to form a ring

Rounds 17 – 21: sc in each stitch (10 stitches)

With dark green wool

Round 22: increase in every stitch (20 stitches)

Rounds 23 – 24: sc in each stitch (20 stitches)

Rounds 25 – 27: decrease until the hole closes

Second floret

With light green wool

Round 28: count four stitches from the first arm and then join the light green wool. Sc four on the stem, sc three on the first floret, chain four, slip stitch in the first sc to form a ring (11 stitches)

Rounds 29 – 33: sc in each stitch (11 stitches)

With dark green wool

Round 34: increase in every stitch (22 stitches)

Round 35: sc in the first three stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (27 stitches)

Round 36: sc in each stitch (27 stitches)

Rounds 37 – 39: decrease until the hole closes

Third floret

With light green wool

Round 40: Join the wool at the base of a floret, sc ten along the floret, sc three on the stem, chain five, join on the other side of the stem three from the floret, sc those three stitches to where you began (21 stitches)

Round 41: decrease around (10 stitches)

Rounds 42 – 44: sc in each stitch (10 stitches)

With dark green wool

Round 45: increase in every stitch (20 stitches)

Round 46: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch (30 stitches)

Round 47: sc in the first three stitches, increase in the next stitch (37 stitches)

Rounds 48 – 49: sc in each stitch (37 stitches)

Round 50: sc in the first stitch, decrease the next two stitches together (25 stitches)

Rounds 51 – 53: decrease until the hole closes

Fourth floret

With light green

Round 54: attach the wool in the hole and sc in each stitch (17 stitches)

Rounds 56 – 60: sc in each stitch (8 stitches)

With dark green wool

Round 61: increase in every stitch (16 stitches)

Round 62: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch – repeat (24 stitches)

Round 63: sc in the first three stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (30 stitches)

Rounds 64 – 65: sc in each stitch (30 stitches)

Round 66: sc in the first stitch, decrease the next two stitches together (20 stitches)

Rounds 67 – 68: decrease until the hole closes.
