This was a Christmas present for my sister-in-law. I used a steel bookend from Daiso, a 4mm hook and blue, white and black 8ply wool. This pattern is written in American crochet notation.
The main body of the Tardis
With blue wool
Round 1: chain 16, turn (using up the turning chain in the process), sc 14, increase in the next stitch, then along the other side of the chain sc 13, increase in the final stitch
Rounds 2 – 35: sc in each stitch
Fasten off, weave in end.
Windows (make two)
With white wool
Row 1: chain 7
Rows 2 – 7: sc in each stitch (6 stitches – it is six, rather than seven, because one of the chains is a turning chain)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Poster
With white wool
Row 1: chain 5
Rows 2 – 7: sc in each stitch (4 stitches)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Police Sign
With black wool
Row 1: chain 15
Rows 2 – 3: sc in each stitch (14 stitches)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Light
With blue wool
Round 1: 6sc in a magic ring
Change to white wool
Rounds 2 – 4: sc in each stitch (6 stitches)
Change to blue wool
Round 5: sc in each stitch (6 stitches)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Stuff.
Assembly
Put the body of the Tardis over the bookend. Sew on the windows, poster, police sign and light. Embroider the writing on the poster, the words ‘Police Box’ on the sign, the bars on the windows and the light and the black outline of the doors.
