My dad recently got a lovely little rescue cat called Lorelei. Naturally she needs toys. Dad made her a box tunnel, I made her this. Seems appropriate seeing as Halloween is coming up π
This pattern requires 8 ply black and white wool. You will need a 4mm hook. The pattern is written in American crochet notation.
Body and head

Round 1: 6sc in a magic ring (6 stitches)
Round 2: increase in every stitch (12 stitches)
Round 3: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch β repeat (18 stitches)
Round 4: sc in each stitch (18 stitches)
Round 5: sc in the first stitch, decrease the next two stitches together β repeat (12 stitches)
Round 6: decrease in every stitch (6 stitches)
Stuff

Round 7: sc in each stitch (6 stitches)
(body)
Round 8: increase in every stitch (12 stitches)
Round 9: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch β repeat (18 stitches)
Round 10: sc in the first two stitches, increase in the next stitch β repeat (24 stitches)
Rounds 11 β 12: sc in each stitch (24 stitches)
Round 13: sc in the first two stitches, decrease the next two stitches together β repeat (18 stitches)

Fasten off, weave in end.
Wings (make two)

Row 1: chain 10
Row 2: sc along the chain (with one turning chain) (9 stitches)
Row 3: decrease in the first two stitches, sc in the next 5 stitches, decrease in the last two stitches (7 stitches)
Row 4: decrease in the first two stitches, sc in the next 3 stitches, decrease in the last two stitches (5 stitches)
Row 5: decrease in the first two stitches, sc in the next stitch, decrease in the last two stitches (3 stitches)
Row 6: decrease the remaining three stitches together (1 stitch)
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Ears (make two)
With black
Attach the wool to a spot in round two of the head, chain 3, double stitch in the same spot, fasten off, weave in ends.
Make the second ear on the opposite side of the head.
Assembly
Sew the wings onto the back. Embroider on the face using white wool (the picture provides an example). Attach black wool firmly to the back of the bat and chain 70, fasten off. Tie the end of the chain to a stick (I βborrowedβ one of my dadβs gardening stakes).
