Some friends bought a Harry Potter advent calendar for work. Each day in December they would open a door and find a new Harry Potter figurine. They wanted to continue enjoying it in the new year so I suggested that I make new figures to go behind the doors. So I kinda signed myself up to design 24 Harry Potter figurines :/ We’ll see how we go.

This patterns uses a 2mm hook and silver 4 ply wool. It is written in American crochet notation. The finished patronus is 9 cm tall and 7 cm long.

With silver 4 ply wool

 

Head

Round 1: 6sc in a magic ring (6 stitches)

Rounds 2: sc in each stitch (6 stitches)

Round 3: increase in every stitch (12 stitches)

Rounds 4 – 5: sc in each stitch (12 stitches) (2 rounds) 3

 

Neck

Round 6: Chain 8, join back to the head 3 stitches behind where the chain starts

Rounds 7 – 8: Sc around (10 stitches) (2 rounds)

Round 9: sc in 4 stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (12 stitches)

 

Body

Round 10: Chain 16 and join back to the neck 3 stitches behind where the chain starts

Rounds 11 – 20: Sc around (18 stitches) (10 rounds)

Round 21: sc in the first stitch, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (12 stitches)

Round 22: decrease until the hole closes.

The patronus now looks like this.

Now join the wool in the hole near the head and neck, sc 18, decrease until the hole closes. Stuff the head and neck.

Now join the wool in the hole near the neck and body, sc 24, decrease until the hole closes (but stuff the body before it closes completely).

The patronus now looks like this.

 

Legs (make 4)

Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6 stitches)

Rounds 2 – 9: sc in each stitch (6 stitches) (8 rounds)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Stuff the legs.

 

Ears

Join the wool to the head, chain 1, 2 dc, slip stitch (all in the same stitch) then weave in the ends.

 

Antlers

Main antler

Round 1: 4 sc in a magic ring (4 stitches)

Rounds 2 – 11: sc in each stitch (4 stitches) (10 rounds)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

 

Tine

Round 1: 4 sc in a magic ring (4 stitches)

Rounds 2 – 4: sc in each stitch (4 stitches) (3 rounds)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Sew the tines onto the main antlers. Sew the antlers onto the head.

Embroider the eyes.
