Skatetool cosy

I need to have my skatetool constantly with me because my toestops are always coming loose. But everyone’s skatetool looks alike. After losing mine a few times I decided to personalise it. Now it’s very distinctive (as well as soft and warm J).

This pattern is for a powerdyne skate tool and is written in American crochet notation.

Round 1: Chain 8, wrap the chain around the tool and slip stitch in the first chain (8 stitches)

Rounds 2 and 3: sc in each sc (8 stitches) – remember to crochet over the tail

Change colour

Rounds 4 and 5: sc in each sc (8 stitches) – remember to crochet over the tails

Round 6: increase, 3sc – repeat (10 stitches)

Rounds 7 – 12: sc in each sc (10 stitches)

Round 13: chain 6, pass the chain around the arm of the tool and slip stitch to the third stitch behind the stitch that the chain originates from (10 stitches)

Round 14: ch 1, sc around, but only work 8 stitches (ie, you miss two chains)

Rounds 15 – 18: sc in each sc (8 stitches)

Change colour

Rounds 19 – 20: sc in each sc (8 stitches) – remember to crochet over the tails

Fasten off, weave in end

Join wool to a stitch near the uncovered arm

Rounds 21 – 22: sc in each sc (12 stitches) – remember to crochet over the tail

Round 23: decrease, 4 sc – repeat (10 stitches)

Round 24: decrease, 3 sc – repeat (8 stitches)

Rounds 25 – 27: sc in each sc (8 stitches)

Change colour

Rounds 28 – 29: sc in each sc (8 stitches) – remember to crochet over the tails

Fasten off, weave in end.
