Yoshi Egg

You can use this egg as a squidgy cushion, or throw it at your enemies  🙂

This patterns uses a 4 mm hook and 8 ply wool and is written in American crochet notation. It is about 20 cm tall.

With white wool

Round 1: 6sc in a magic ring (6 stitches)

Round 2: increase in every stitch (12 stitches)

Round 3: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch – repeat (18 stitches)

Round 4: sc in the first two stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (24 stitches)

Round 5: sc in the first three stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (30 stitches)

Round 6: sc in the first four stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (36 stitches)

Round 7: sc in the first five stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (42 stitches)

Round 8: sc in the first six stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (48 stitches)

Round 9: sc in the first seven stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (54 stitches)

Round 10: sc in the first eight stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (60 stitches)

Round 11: sc in the first nine stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (66 stitches)

Round 12: sc in the first ten stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (72 stitches)

Round 13: sc in the first eleven stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (78 stitches)

Round 15: sc in the first thirteen stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (90 stitches)

Round 16: sc in the first fourteen stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (96 stitches)

Round 17: sc in the first fifteen stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (102 stitches)

Rounds 18 – 32: sc in each stitch (102 stitches)

Round 33: sc in the first fifteen stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (96 stitches)

Rounds 34 – 35: sc in each stitch (96 stitches)

Round 36: sc in the first fourteen stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (90 stitches)

Rounds 37-38: sc in each stitch (90 stitches)

Round 39: sc in the first thirteen stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (84 stitches)

Rounds 40 – 41: sc in each stitch (84 stitches)

Round 42: sc in the first twelve stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (78 stitches)

Rounds 43 – 44: sc in each stitch (78 stitches)

Round 45: sc in the first eleven stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (72 stitches)

Rounds 46 – 47: sc in each stitch (72 stitches)

Round 48: sc in the first ten stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (66 stitches)

Rounds 49 – 50: sc in each stitch (66 stitches)

Round 51: sc in the first nine stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (60 stitches)

Rounds 52 – 53: sc in each stitch around (60 stitches)

Round 54: sc in the first eight stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (54 stitches)

Rounds 55 – 56: sc in each stitch around (54 stitches)

Round 57: sc in the first seven stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (48 stitches)

Round 58: sc in the first six stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (42 stitches)

Round 59: sc in the first five stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (36 stitches)

Round 60: sc in the first four stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (30 stitches)

Round 61: sc in the first three stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (24 stitches)

Round 62: sc in the first two stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (18 stitches)

Round 63: sc in the first stitch, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (12 stitches)

Round 64: decrease until the hole closes.

Fasten off, weave in end.

Spots (make three big and two small)

With green wool

Chain six

Round 1: sc 4, increase, then (along the other side of the chain) sc 4, increase

Place a marker at each end (ie, where the increases are)

Round 2: sc in each stitch except increase in the first stitch on either side of each marker (so that is four increases in this round – two on one end and two on the other)

Round 3: sc in each stitch except increase in the two stitches on either side of each marker (8 increases)

Round 4: sc in each stitch

Round 5: sc in each stitch except increase in the three stitches on either side of each marker (12 increases)

Round 6: sc in each stitch

Round 7: sc in each stitch except increase in the four stitches on either side of each marker (16 increases)

Round 8: sc in each stitch

For a small spot fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Keep going for a large spot.

Round 9: sc in each stitch except increase in the five stitches on either side of each marker (20 increases)

Round 10 – 11: sc in each stitch

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Artfully arrange your spots and sew them to the egg. Enjoy your comfy cushion/dangerous projectile.
