AFL cat toys

I designed these cat toys for an AFL themed charity fundraiser. They use a 3mm hook and 8 ply wool. The patterns are written in American crochet notation.

Geelong Cats cat toy

Head

With white wool

Round 1: 6sc in a magic ring (6 stitches)

Round 2: increase in every stitch (12 stitches)

Round 3: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch – repeat (18 stitches)

Change to blue wool

Round 4: sc in each stitch (18 stitches)

Round 5: sc in the first stitch, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (12 stitches)

Change to white wool

Round 6: decrease around (6 stitches)

Stuff the head

Round 7: sc in each stitch (6 stitches)

 

Body

Round 8: increase in every stitch (12 stitches)

Change to blue wool

Round 9: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch – repeat (18 stitches)

Round 10: sc in the first two stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (24 stitches)

Change to white wool

Rounds 11 – 12: sc in each stitch (24 stitches) (2 rounds)

Change to blue wool

Round 13: sc in each stitch (24 stitches)

Round 14: sc in the first two stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (18 stitches)

Change to white wool

Round 15: sc in the first stitch, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (12 stitches)

Stuff the body

Round 16: decrease around (6 stitches)

 

Tail

Round 17: sc in the first stitch, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (4 stitches)

Change to blue wool

Rounds 18 – 19: sc in each stitch (4 stitches) (2 rounds)

Change to white wool

Rounds 20 – 21: sc in each stitch (4 stitches) (2 rounds)

Change to blue wool

Rounds 22 – 23: sc in each stitch (4 stitches) (2 rounds)

Fasten off, weave in ends.

 

Legs (make four – two white, two blue)

Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6 stitches)

Round 2: sc in each stitch (6 stitches)

Round 3: decrease around (3 stitches)

Chain 5

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

 

Ears

With white wool

Sc in one stitch on the head, dc then sc in the next stitch, fasten off, weave in ends.

 

Assembly

Sew on the legs. Embroider blue eyes and black whiskers.

Join the wool to the head, chain 3 (one is a turning chain), sc 2 along the chain, fasten off, weave in ends.

 

Assembly

Sew on the arms, legs and wings. Embroider a smiley face with black wool and a Melbourne logo with red wool.
