Dwayne the Dragonfly

                 

This pattern uses 4 ply wool and a 2 mm hook. It is written in American crochet notation. The finished dragonfly is 10 cm long.

Wings (make 4)

With light blue wool

Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6 stitches)

Round 2: sc in each stitch (6 stitches)

Round 3: sc, increase in the next stitch – repeat (9 stitches)

Rounds 4 – 7: sc in each stitch (9 stitches) (4 rounds)

Round 8: sc, increase in the next stitch – repeat (13 stitches)

Rounds 9 – 14: sc in each stitch (13 stitches) (6 rounds)

Round 15: sc in the first stitch, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (9 stitches)

Round 16: sc in the first stitch, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (6 stitches)

 

Body

With green wool

Starting at the tail

Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6 stitches)

Rounds 2 – 16: sc in each stitch (6 stitches) (15 rounds) stuff the tail as you go

 

Body

Round 17: increase in each stitch (12 stitches)

Round 18: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch – repeat (18 stitches)

Rounds 19 – 24: sc in each stitch (18 stitches) (6 rounds)

Round 25: sc in the first stitch, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (12 stitches)

Stuff the body

Round 26: decrease around (6 stitches)

 

Head

Round 27: increase in each stitch (12 stitches)

Round 28: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch – repeat (18 stitches)

Round 29: sc in each stitch (18 stitches)

Round 30: sc in the first stitch, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (12 stitches)

Stuff

Round 31: decrease around until the hole closes. Fasten off and weave in the end.

 

Legs (make 6)

With green wool

Round 1: 4 sc in a magic ring (4 stitches)

Rounds 2 – 5: sc in each stitch (4 stitches) (4 rounds)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

 

Assembly

Sew the legs and wings onto the body and embroider the large eyes.
