This is my attempt at the crochet equivalent of a Transformers doll. This is a bulbasaur that turns into a pokeball. The pokeball is hidden in the bulb on his back. You can open the bulb, take out the ball and put the bulbasaur inside it. This pattern uses three shades of green 8 ply wool. It also uses red, black and white 8 ply wool and white 4 ply wool. You will need a 4mm and a 2.5 mm hook. The pattern is written in American crochet notation. The toy is just over 10 cm long.

Assembly
Sew the two halves of the pokeball together at the back (about 8 stitches sewn together). Sew the ears and googly eyes to the head. Embroider a mouth with dark green wool. Sew three claws to each leg and sew the legs to the body. Weave some wool around the edge of the bulb to make a drawstring. Sew the bulb to the back. Sew the hinge of the ball to the middle of the inside of the bulb. And there you have it, a transforming bulbasaur 🙂
