Quick, someone get my pokeflute because there’s a Snorlax blocking the doorway πŸ™‚

This toy is perfectly cuddling size. He is roughly 50 cm tall, with an arm span of 75 cm.

This patterns uses a 4 mm hook and 8 ply wool and is written in American crochet notation. You will need four 100 gram black balls, two 100 gram brown balls and some white and dark brown wool. You will also need approximately 600 grams of stuffing.

Body and head

With black wool

Round 1: 6sc in a magic ring (6 stitches)

Round 2: increase in every stitch (12 stitches)

Round 3: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch – repeat (18 stitches)

Round 4: sc in the first two stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (24 stitches)

Round 5: sc in the first three stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (30 stitches)

Continue with this pattern of increases until you get to Round 32, where you have thirty stitches between each increase (192 stitches)

Rounds 33 – 62: sc in each stitch (192 stitches)

Round 63: sc in the first thirty stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (186 stitches)

Round 64: sc in the first twenty-nine stitches, decrease the next two stitches together – repeat (180 stitches)

Continue with this pattern of decreases until you get to Round 86, where you have seven stitches between each decrease (48 stitches)

Round 87: sc in each stitch (48 stitches)

Round 88: sc in the first seven stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (54 stitches)

Round 89: sc in the first eight stitches, increase in the next stitch – repeat (60 stitches)

Continue with this pattern of increases until you get to Round 101, where you have twenty stitches between each increase (132 stitches)

Rounds 102 – 121: sc in each sc (132 stitches)

Round 122: sc in the first twenty stitches, decrease the next two stitches together (126 stitches)

Round 123: sc in the first nineteen stitches, decrease the next two stitches together (120 stitches)

Continue with this pattern of decreases until you get to Round 142, where the hole closes, you should of course, stuff the body and the head before the hole closes. I used 500 grams of stuffing.

Fasten off, weave in end.

Face

With brown wool

Round 1: 6sc in a magic ring (6 stitches)

Round 2: increase in every stitch (12 stitches)

Round 3: sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch – repeat (18 stitches)

Assembly

Sew the ears to the head. Fold a V shape in the top of the face and sew it to the head. Embroider the face. Sew on the tummy fur. The tummy fur and face should be sewed together at the neck. Sew the claws onto the arms and sew the arms to the body. Sew the claws to the feet and the feet to the body. Use the photos as a guide.

You have now completed your Snorlax, but there’s still lots of work to be done. You better start looking for the 800 pounds of food he needs each day to keep him happy πŸ™‚
